How Does a Total Flooding Fire Suppression System Work?
A total flooding fire suppression system is designed to discharge a calculated quantity of extinguishing agent throughout an enclosed protected space.
When the associated fire detection and control system confirms a fire condition, the system initiates its configured release sequence. The extinguishing agent is released from the storage cylinder or cylinder bank and travels through a piping network to strategically positioned discharge nozzles.
The nozzles distribute the agent throughout the protected enclosure to achieve the concentration required by the engineered system design.
Depending on the system configuration, the sequence may include audible and visual alarms, equipment or ventilation shutdown, a pre-discharge time delay, automatic release and manual release controls.
